ND'IGBO GENERATION 1960-70+

PRESS RELEASE!
January 25, 2003

Ugo Eberela N'mgbagbu (The Die is Cast)!

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Chief Chekwas Okorie, the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). We commend him and his resource persons for the courage and commitment with which they took the symbolic bull by the horns as it were, in restoring that necessary power parity point which has been arrogantly subdued in the life of that "Fallen House," Nigeria, in recent times. We salute them all, very worthy, peaceful and progressive sons of Alaigbo and Africa.

We applaud and appreciate their deep understanding and modulated moves from APGA's conception stage to its crystallization as a full-fledged platform primed for revitalizing and protecting our God-given rights under the sun.

We affirm without equivocation the choice of General (Dim) Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as the Party's flag bearer in the

April 19, 2003 Presidential polls. From the very elaborate consultations we have made, we have no doubt in our minds that Dim's choice reflects the wishes of most of the long subjugated people of the former Eastern Region and beyond. His matchless record in every parameter of leadership and selfless service to humanity stand him out among the lot. He has the capacity to deliver if empowered. Therefore, we urge our compatriots to rally round in unison and ensure that he be so empowered at the critical stage.

We request that we, Nd'Igbo,
"count our teeth with our tongues" and in the context of today and past experiences, especially in the last three and a half years of misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that we duly reflect on and internalize the evergreen words of our ebullient and pragmatic Dr. M.I. Okpara of blessed memory that: "First fool no be fool. Second fool, na proper foolish." We feel that anything to the contrary at the crossroads we have arrived, is tantamount to not appreciating what such great sons of Africa stood and suffered for in their time. It will not be in due defference to the dreams of such patriots.

We encourage you wherever you are resident in that country to go about and discharge your civic responsibility, a very decisive duty in due times and in the impeccable tradition of non-violence as bequeathed to us by our forebears.

While we advise all to remain vigilant, be rest assured that we on our part are keeping a close watch on puns to any power in power no matter how inhuman, hateful, unimaginative and lawless such a power may be as we do have in place now. We are well aware of the grand media plot to Rubbish the Ikemba and his aspiration to bring hope to the many nations of Nigeria. Yakubu Gowon and his fellow Igbo-murderers are in the thick of this plot. Gowon and his friends should make no mistakes, if they think we shall fold our hands and watch them humiliate the Ikemba like the Jihadist Buhari did in 1983, they need to think again. Ndi-Igbo Generation 60 - 70+ shall not hesitate to set EVERY City in Nigeria ablaze should the Ikemba or any of his supporters come to any harm in the build up to the April Election. The Igbo shall not retreat to ala Igbo until we have rendered every other part of Nigeria desolate.

We assure them that feting a few greenhorns in the law profession and some hungry chiefs from Imo in Abuja and dubiously propounding what they think is in our best collective interest is a waste of time.
"By their fruits, ye shall know them" and what we do know in actual fact is that lining their agbada and babariga pockets, and filling vaults abroad with ill-gotten money, owning limos and being landlords to very expensive and elegant houses in Abuja at the expense of our collective destiny, while mouthing useless anti-corruption slogans, do not represent our best option nor that of the other dehumanized nationalities in that country. The CONTINUITY of such a holistically packaged deceit will no longer be condoned.

Politically, their time and relevance is up! The structure on the ground now is no longer tenable or sustainable. It has become unacceptable and MUST be reconfigured peacefully, as a first post-polls project. And should they or anyone seek to extend it by any means possible, including desecrating the non-violent tradition of our forebears on constitutional and electoral matters, the instrumentality of due process already precedent in the international arena in recent times would be evoked to deliver a timely and surprising justice to our very peaceful, hardworking, but long cheated and overburdened peoples.

Ugo eberela n'mgbagbu (The die is cast) and the Enyimba Spirit is alive and on the match again! No one can change the course of history now for our distinct destiny is in our firm hands.

Comrade James Ekechukwu, C.Eng.
Chief Operations Officer, Nd'Igbo Generation 1960-70+
